Joshu Jared Salzman began his martial arts journey at age 10. “I’d been bullied and picked on badly,” he explains. “But Master Ron Shulmann, who is still my instructor, made me feel like part of a family. He empowered me to stand up for myself. And from that point, I knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.” Today, Salzman brings over 15 years of teaching expertise to his role as Nanuet’s Owner and Head Instructor. “There is no better feeling,” he says, “then when a student runs into school to tell me how they stood up for themself.”

Working with members to improve their mental and physical fitness “is a dream come true,” says Salzman. “We’ve helped adults lose weight and improve their health to the point that they could stop taking medication for diabetes, high blood pressure, and anxiety. What’s more, we’ve had many members successfully defend themselves on the street, when it counts.”

Salzman credits Tiger Schulmann’s with his life-long drive to succeed and no-quit spirit. Now, he says, “I give every ounce of me to help students become their best selves.”
