Throughout the month the Town will be collecting socks and canned soup for People to People with a donation box in the Community Center. Residents are also encouraged to register for some of the festive programs being held at the Congers Community Center throughout the month of December. Some of the programs include canvas painting, ornament craft, wooden wreath ornament, flashlight candy cane hunt, create lego winter scene, holiday box craft, and holiday dance fantasy showcase. Clarkstown Cares Coat DriveThe Town is collecting coats for kids and adults with the help of four local dry cleaners. The cleaners will clean the coats free of charge, and then forward them to three distribution agencies, Martin Luther King Center, People to People, and Advocates for Change.Many families are faced with tough times during the holidays. A little background information about the candidate:Dan Maloney has been a volunteer firefighter for the past 20+ years. He joined the Rockland Lake Fire Department when he turned 16 and volunteered with them for 14 years. He joined the Nanuet Fire Department in 2009, and has been an active member there for the past 10+ years. Dan serves on many committees within the Fire Department, and he has served as a Company officer for many years. He has held the positions of Financial Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Recording Secretary within the Company. He is also the current HazMat officer of the Nanuet Fire Department. He is a certified chauffeur and pump operator and is classified as an interior fireman.In addition to his assigned company duties, Dan also volunteers his time to help run the fire safety presentations for Fire Prevention Week at George W. Miller Elementary, Highview Elementary, Bardonia Elementary, and A. MacArthur Barr Middle School. He has also volunteered his time to teach the pre-school kids at Kids Kingdom about fire safety (if you have any kids that go to school there, just ask them about "Fireman Dan").Dan resides in Nanuet with his wife and four children.
