The Nanuet Chamber of Commerce hosted the 10th Annual Nanuet Schools Art Exhibit at the Palisades mall on Friday, March 22. The exhibit consisted of 103 works of art by students from the 2 elementary schools, A Macarthur Barr MS and Nanuet HS. The art was on display at several stores in the Palisades mall for 2 weeks prior to the exhibit and awards ceremony. From each of the 4 schools, awards were given to 1st place and a runner up, and then a Best in Show was awarded to 1 student in the district. Each winner received an award certificate and a gift card from the Nanuet Chamber.
More than 200 people attended the event, during which entertainment was provided by the Nanuet HS string orchestra under the direction of the orchestra director Melanie Sadoff. Palisades Mall management provided refreshments. Dr. Lisa Brady and Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann addressed guests and students.
Thank you to the members of the Nanuet HS Junior Chamber of Commerce under the direction of Art teacher Kelly Quartioni for retrieving the artwork from the stores in the mall and helping to set up the show. Thank you to the art teachers who were able to bring out the Potential in their students to create such magnificent works of art. The teachers from all 4 schools include Kelly Quarioni, Codi Smith, Erin Kilcar, Ruby Aday, Julia Thompson, Eric Storms and department chairman Kodi Tidd.
Special thanks goes to the management of the Palisades Mall and particularly to Keri Cunningham, Marketing Director for the mall who arranged for the store artwork hosts, provided snacks and water and for setting up the awards event at the Mall.
