Rockland County Fire Dept and EMS Agencies are currently experiencing a critical need to recruit and retain members. As an incentive for county residents to serve at volunteer fire departments and EMS agencies, the county of Rockland has developed a program of recruitment and retention incentives for volunteer first responders. For volunteers who qualify and are in a Rockland County Fire Dept or EMS agency, there are two great programs that may be able to help them with college tuition.
The EDGES program waves tuition (only) at Rockland Community College for volunteers who qualify
The HERRO program can reimburse volunteers who qualify up to $6,000 a year toward tuition.
