On February 20, 2017 the Greater Nanuet Chamber of Commerce was awarded a grant from Rockland County Department of Economic Growth and Tourism to create a Shopping and Dining Map for Nanuet! Ed Day, County Executive who made the announcement at the Edward Hopper House in Nyack, stated that the funding comes from a combination of county money and grants from the statewide I Love New York program. These grants are for the purpose of boosting tourism in Rockland County.
The grants were awarded on a competitive basis, with accompanying performance expectations. The funds will be used to attract visitors from outside Rockland County.
Our application outlined our request as follows: The Nanuet Chamber of Commerce is seeking support to fund the development of a shopping and dining map so that we can ensure that it is designed and printed with excellence to demonstrate the quality of the retail shops and restaurants in the Greater Nanuet area. The Chamber is seeking to obtain slightly less than 50% support for the design, production and promotion of the map.
Program Details and Specifications:
The map will be coordinated beginning February of 2017. The Chamber will seek support from various restaurants and retail establishments to have copies in the establishments for posting and distribution. We will also request that copies be included in the Nanuet and Pearl River libraries as well as in schools and in various real estate offices around the County. The Board will ensure all contact information and addresses are up to date and as many locations as possible are included, members and non-members. The map will be designed in May through June, printed over the summer with anticipated distribution in September, 2017.
We are seeking volunteers to assist with solicitation from local restaurants who would like to participate in this cause. Stay tuned for further details……..
